Opportunities

Together, volunteers and staff enable community members (50+ years) to enjoy life in their own homes through the concept of neighbors helping neighbors.  Opportunities are always changing and expanding. Below are some examples of volunteer opportunities:

Technology Assistance

Whether helping set up email, reviewing manuals, demonstrating basic operations or showing a Village member how to search the web, technology assistance is an excellent way to help others become more connected and feel comfortable with their computer, cell phone or digital camera.

Simple Home Maintenance

Are you handy around the house? Help by changing a light bulb, replacing batteries in a smoke detector or hanging pictures; there are countless simple home maintenance services that volunteers can offer Village members.

Office Assistance

The work we do in the community could not happen without the behind-the-scenes participation. From answering phone calls to preparing mailings to data entry and filing, there are a variety of office assistance opportunities that can be completed from the JFS office.

Friendly Visits / Phone Check-ins

Volunteers brighten the day of the members by offering companionship with visits and phone check-ins. Friendly visitors are asked to donate one hour each week. Bi-weekly phone call check-ins are a great way to offer support while working within a flexible schedule. Volunteers can also go with Village members out shopping, to lunch, the movies, etc. (ride will be provided by the Village).

In-Home Grocery Shopping / Pick-up

Volunteers assist by placing online orders, picking up groceries and then coordinating delivery and helping to put food away in the member’s home.

Pet Care / Walker

Help owners care for their pets. Activities may include walking dogs, changing litter boxes and/or feeding animals.

Meal Delivery (Kosher Meals-on-Wheels)

Easy-to-prepare meals are delivered by volunteers on a weekly basis to dozens in our community. Volunteers select a variety of meals including baked fish, lasagna, chicken, fresh fruit, soup and dessert and personally deliver to members.

Light Gardening / Water Plants

For volunteers with a green thumb, light gardening activities are the perfect way to help Village members. Whether watering plants, assisting with seasonal planting or caring for gardens, there are a variety of ways to help.

Paperwork Assistance / Bill Paying Support

Volunteers can help by sorting members mail, helping balance a checkbook, assisting with bill paying and organizing documents.

Trash / Recycling Valet

Help Village members by taking out their trash and recycling.
